"The Rainmaker"
by N. Richard Nash
At the time of a paralyzing drought in the West we discover a girl whose father and two brothers are worried as much about her becoming an old maid as they are about their dying cattle. For the truth is, she is indeed a plain girl. The brothers try every possible scheme to marry her off, but without success. Nor is there any sign of relief from the dry heat. When suddenly from out of nowhere appears a picturesque character with a mellifluous tongue and the most grandiose notions a man could imagine. He claims to be a rainmaker. And he promises to bring rain, for $100. It's a silly idea, but the rainmaker is so refreshing and ingratiating that the family finally consents. Forthwith they begin banging on big brass drums to rattle the sky; while the rainmaker turns his magic on the girl, and persuades her that she has a very real beauty of her own. And she believes it, just as her father believes the fellow can actually bring rain.

"Rapunzel"
Adapted by Karen Boettcher-Tate
Rene Shwartzbuckle is cuckoo for a turnip-like vegetable called rapunzel. When she spots a mouth-watering patch of the plant in Witch Izwitch's garden, she sends her husband Walt out to "borrow" some. Witch Izwitch is certainly not amused! With her diabolical henchmen, the Glumpwarts, she terrorizes Walt into promising her his firstborn child in exchange for his freedom. We then jump ahead many years to Rapunzel (now you know where the name comes from!) Shwartzbuckle's 18th birthday. The witch and the Glumpwarts show up as promised and whisk poor, innocent Rapunzel away to a tower in the forest. From here, a boisterously entertaining rescue attempt begins! Can Prince Llewellyn persevere over the powers of evil?

"BAREFOOT IN THE PARK"
Back in those distant days before the internet, cable television, or cell phones, two young people fell in love... Meet newlyweds Corie and Paul Bratter. Paul is a strait-laced attorney. Corie is spontaneous free spirit. They're in love. After a blissful honeymoon at The Plaza hotel they must face reality and set up housekeeping in a minuscule fifth-floor studio in a Manhattan brownstone with no elevator. In addition to adjusting to married life, they must contend with oddball neighbors, a well-meaning mother and a hole in their skylight. Neil Simon's play, written in 1963 and inspired by the early days of his marriage at the time, was his first major hit and ran for 1,530 performances on Broadway.
This show will be performed at the Wilsonville Frogpond Grange (28000 SW Stafford Rd. in Wilsonville - map). Sorry, no performances in Boring. *

"A Nutz-n-Boltz Christmas Carol"
Written in 1843 by Charles Dickens, this classic story of "the man who hates Christmas" Ebenezer Scrooge is being presented in a new version adapted for young actors. In our version, the language remains the same, but all the roles are played by kids ages 8-17! Mr. Scrooge is the only adult in our cast. This production marks the third year for "Christmas Carol" and the Nutz! Every year we tell the holiday story of redemption and forgiveness in a new way. Don't miss it. This is a great start to the month of December and a fantastic, festive show for the entire family. Ghosts, laughter, fog, candlelight and of course, Christmas Carols.
November 30 and December 1-2
